PERSONAL ATTACK PANIC BUTTONS

Few burglar alarm systems are installed nowadays without a panic button built in to the operating keypad. It is, however, a simple task to add fixed panic buttons elsewhere in the system.

A growing and popular trend is to have a panic button which can be carried around.  These units typically have a range of 100 metres, but this can be reduced by walls and other obstructions since they rely on radio transmission.  The wireless mobile panic button has much greater usefulness, because you can take it with you if you feel that some strange noise needs investigating, or when someone comes to the door, or in a shop, when you are away from the counter.

Incidentally, the same portable panic button device can also be adapted for other operations such as releasing the entrance door in premises where there is a telephone entry system, or as a means of giving a warning at some central point, in situations where some members of staff might be at risk, etc...

If your alarm system has remote signalling (i.e. a police response) your panic button will elicit a police attendance.   It can be rigged so that no-one knows you have pressed it, or to give an instant audible alarm at the same time.

Your panic button or personal attack button as it is also known, is always alive, and does not depend on the alarm being set.

It is possible to have a panic alarm system without having a proper burglar alarm.
